Brittney Decker Roche
Our Veteran Peer Outreach Specialist Mateo had the opportunity to display his artwork at the La Jolla Playhouse WOW Festival. The WOW festival is a four-day celebration of immersive, interactive, and breathtaking experiences from local, national, and international artists.
His artwork was created in the studio at the Veterans Art Project.
When I first encountered Mateo, I remember him mentioning how he wanted to create dishes for himself and furnish his place with them. Fast forward to today, Mateo has been able to creatively create a beautiful collection of plates, bowls, strainers, and pots.
This was the first time he's displayed any of his art.
If you ever run into Mateo make sure to congratulate him, in person.

Our Courage to Call community experienced something special. Our Food Markets were not only filled with resources and support but also with the joy of music, thanks to our friends at Resounding Joy Inc.
From the first note to the last, the band set the tone for an unforgettable day of community, care, and connection. As we distributed resources and shared moments with our community, the music from Resounding Joy Inc. added a layer of warmth and camaraderie that words alone cannot express.
Thank you to our Volunteers and Resounding Joy Inc. for making our Food Market on March 23rd not just an event, but a memorable experience for everyone involved. Your music and support not only resounded through the market but also touched the hearts of all present.
Let us continue to make harmony and support our community efforts and we look forward to more collaborations such as this one and many more.
