What Does Courage to Call Provide?

Every day in San Diego County, current and former service members and their families deal with the complex maze of issues that accompanies military life. Often times the most difficult problem is not knowing where to turn when you need help.

Courage to Call is a free, confidential, veteran-staffed helpline (8am-8pm PST) dedicated to assisting active duty military personnel, veterans, reservists, guard members, and their families, regardless of discharge status, through information, guidance, and referrals. We offer a comprehensive coordination of care and can assign a veteran peer support specialist and/or a veteran peer counselor to your case.

    When you call, a veteran peer support specialist will be available from 8am-8pm PST, Monday-Friday to assist you.

    Your veteran peer support specialist will provide a confidential needs assessment to explore the best avenue to support you and your family.

    Your veteran peer support specialist will provide appropriate information, referral, and follow-up based on your needs. Courage to Call’s veteran peer counselors are available to provide Solution-Focused Brief Counseling to assist in any mental health or behavioral barriers to treatment.

who have served in any branch of the Military, Reserves or National Guard regardless of their discharge status, and those who have left the military and need help finding support and services.

who are concerned about the emotional health and well being of those who have served in the Active Duty, Reserves or National Guard.

Community organizations, agencies, and providers
that want training to improve cultural awareness and understanding for serving those with a military or military family background.
