What’s New
We apologize for skipping a few Thursdays, but we are now back on track!
Meet Jay Antes: part of our 211 veteran peer support!
Jay loves community, is always ready to embrace the team like an old friend, offering empathetic and supportive help, and vetting the people he comes into contact with, including veterans.
He brings a feeling of inclusion to our team meetings with an infectious smile, shares funny memes on our chat line, and can have everyone laughing with him in a room within seconds.
Jay loves a good workout daily, is passionate about what weight training and exercise can provide for his own sense of well-being and. He also appreciates a good meal and is always excited to know when one of our talented cooks or pastry chefs on the team has prepared something delicious to share with him. Jay has a great sense of humor and appreciates a hearty belly laugh (here seen with our own Douglas Alvarado and comedian Alfred Robles).
Thanks, Jay, for bringing your youthful energy and enthusiasm to the team!

We were honored to join the 2025 Stand Down Resource Event with our partners at Veterans Village of San Diego and Feeding San Diego. This two-day event brought together vital resources for unhoused and at-risk veterans, their families, and active-duty service members.
From connecting veterans to housing and health services to sharing a simple handshake and heartfelt conversation, we were reminded of the power of community. Every interaction was a step toward making sure no veteran faces hunger or homelessness alone.
Thank you to everyone who came out, volunteered, and shared your support. Your presence makes a difference. โค๏ธ

Courage to Call x TURN Behavioral Health Services joined the incredible Cruise for the Cause this past weekend in support of the Emilio Nares Foundation.
It was inspiring to see so many community programs united by one mission, empowering families and saving lives through awareness, support, and connection. From resource-sharing to ring toss games with the kids (shoutout to Celica for the fun flamingo moment), this day was filled with smiles and purpose.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by to learn more about what we do. Together, we build stronger, healthier communities.

๐ซ Meet Our Team: Douglas Alvarado, Lead Clinician ๐ซ
If you've ever met Douglas, you know the heart he brings to his work. As our Lead Clinician at Courage to Call, Douglas is caring, compassionate, and deeply committed to every client who crosses his path. His calm presence and thoughtful approach make a lasting impact on the military we serve.
Douglas is also a true lover of the arts. Music, creativity, and expression are woven into everything he does. Outside of his work, he shares his life with his incredibly supportive girlfriend and loving cats, who bring him joy.
While Douglas gives so much to others, he never forgets to remind the team (and himself) how vital self-care is. He leads by example by balancing service with rest and encouraging us to take a breath when needed.
We're so lucky to have Douglas on our team. ๐
